University of Picardie Jules Verne is situated midway between Paris and Lille.It is under the academy of Amiens. It consists of 20,000 and 1,000 research professors. It is a multidisciplinary university. In 2004, university had adopted LMD system for the development of European Higher Education area. 12 professors have been divided into 6 different fields, which are as follows : Law and Political Science; Economics and Management: economic institutions, organizations and systems; Business Administration; Humanities: arts, cultures, identities, territory, exchanges; languages, texts, discourse; the phenomenon of warfare, past and present; Science and Health: materials for energy storage and conversion, health, biology, chemistry; Science and Technology: electrical engineering and business information technology, computer science, logistics engineering, mathematics, computer methods for enterprise management, physics; Social Sciences: psychology; constitution, transmission and use of knowledge; contemporary societies. The UPJV also offers 6 technical institute programmes, a large number of professional licences and a licence in physical education. Distance learning is available as well. The university has 34 recognised research units and laboratories. It has 4 CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research) teams. The research groups participate for large-scale internal research program. University provides three levels of French Language Education courses for backup studies and for specific French Language Education programmes.
