Using the culture as the gold standard diagnostic method, PCR has a sensitivity of (93.6%) and specificity of (87.2% ), whereas smear microscopy has a sensitivity of 68.8% and specificity of 90.4%. TB/HIV co- infection was detected in 3 (2.7%) of tested cases whom were negatively smear and only one was positive by culture and PCR. |
