FEMS is a federation of microbiological societies in Europe. It is the combination of member societies from 36 European countries, covering over 30000 microbiologists. FEMS facilitates exchange of scientific knowledge to all microbiologists in Europe and worldwide by publishing five microbiology journals and organizing a biennial congress for microbiologists around the world. It also initiates campaigns such as the European Academy of Microbiology (EAM) and the European Microbiology Forum (EMF). Members of FEMS can apply for fellowships, grants and/or support when organizing a meeting. Vision FEMS' vision is to coordinate and lead the acquisition of scientific knowledge and innovation in microbiology and to maximise communication of this knowledge, and its importance, to scientists, politicians, policy makers, industry and the general public. Microorganisms play a significant role in humans, plants, animals the environment and industrial processes, and impact significantly on health, the economy, food supply, and ecosystems. Scientific knowledge of microbes and their interactions in the biosphere is essential for informed decision and policy making, improved health and well-being, wealth generation and environmental quality and sustainability. Mission FEMS aims at advancing microbiology in Europe and the neighbouring regions via grants, publication of internationally renowned journals, news items, teaching support, congresses and additional initiatives that fulfil its Vision.
FEMS has been collaborated with OMICS Group International is the renowned scientific event organizer, and publisher of 350 Open access journals and organizing over 150 Scientific Meetings across the World annually with the support of more than 150 scientific associations, 30,000 editorial board members, and 3.5 million followers to its credit. Raising its curtains in the year 2007, OMICS Group International aims to disseminate knowledge with the help of its Open access Journals and marches on to instigate OMICS Group International Conferences in the year 2010, to provide a meaningful platform for the world renowned scientists, researchers, students, academicians, institutions, entrepreneurs and industries through its scientific events annually throughout the globe.
