Figure 7: Pro-inflammatory cytokine levels were reduced in HIVNefsmr5a infected NRG mice. NRG mice successfully transplanted with CD34+ HSCs were infected with either HIVwt (n=2) or HIVNefsmr5a (n=3) NL4-3 virus. At various weeks post-infection, mice were bled and the plasma was analyzed for pro-inflammatory cytokine and chemokine expression by 20-plex luminex array. Of the 20 pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines measured, (A) Week 2 post-infection: IL-13, and IL-15 were significantly increased in HIVwt infected mice relative to HIVNefsmr5a and (B) Week 9 post-infection: IL-10 and IP-10 was significantly elevated in HIVwt infected mice compared to HINefsmr5a. Differences between groups were determined using an unpaired student t-test *p<0.05, **p<0.01, ***p<0.001.
