The snipped tails of the mice were blotted each 30 seconds for 10 seconds starting form the time (0) of the snip. Each ‘blood spot’ corresponds to the amount of blood blotted to a hardened filter paper. The filter papers with the blood spots were digitized, cropped and plotted against the time line. The inset shows drops of mice blood with a known volume in microliters (μl), blotted against the same filter paper used for the tail-snip tests.
