Figure 2: Influence of growth temperature on adhesion of four strains: PfA7B, Pf1vis-, DSS73 and DSS73-15C2 and their surface hydrophobicity after incubation at 8°C and 17°C. Adhesion corresponds to incubation in static condition for 1 day at 8°C (crossline pattern) and 4h at 17°C (plain black). For each strain, three independent cultures were realized in triplicate. Results were normalized as percentage of the median value corresponding to the adhesion obtained for PfA7B at 8°C. Statistical analyses were performed on these results with the help of Mann- Whitney test. NS means non significant (p≥0.05); X significant (p≤0.05); XX: highly significant (p≤0.01); XXX: extremely significant (p≤0.001). Hydrophobicity corresponds to hexadecane affinity evaluated for bacterial cultures after 4 days of incubation at either 8°C (white dot) or 17°C (grey dot). (100%: highly hydrophobic, 0%: highly hydrophilic). |
