Figure 5: Apoptosis induced by altholactone in DU145 cells. DU145 cells were treated with 0, 20, 30 and 40 μM of altholactone in the presence or absence of 5 mM N-acetylcysteine (NAC) for 24h. Thereafter, cells were stained with FITC-conjugated Annexin V and PI for flow cytometric analysis. The values obtained from Annexin V/FITC represent the Mean ± SD for three individual experiments. The difference was significant at p< 0.05. (A) Altholactone induces apoptotic rather than necrotic cell death in DU145 cells. (B) N-acetylcysteine inhibits apoptosis-induced by altholactone.
