Table 3: Compound 1 increases metabolic rate and energy expenditure in DIO mice Oxygen uptake (VO2), Carbon dioxide output (VCO2), respiratory exchange ratio (RER) and heat generation were measured by indirect calorimetry after 4 weeks of compound treatment in groups of 3 DIO mice from each group. Values were normalized to lean body mass (LBM), and represent means ± SD. Maximal aerobic capacity was calculated as milliliter (ml) O2/minute (min)/per gram (g) LBM. Statistical significance was calculated by using the two sample, paired t test. P values shown are for compound 1 versus vehicle group. *P=0.04 for heat production and P=0.02 for maximal aerobic capacity. |
