Figure 6: “Time travel” experiment. The figure shows a negative image of an ethidium bromide-stained DGGE separation pattern of PCR- amplified [NiFe] hydrogenase fragments from D.gigaswith GC clamp and without GC clamp. The different samples were loaded onto the gel every 30 min (30`) for a total of 5 h. Note that the fragments with GC clamp stop after about 2.5 h and do not move further into the gel even after 5 h of electrophoresis. The fragments without GC clamp, however, slowdown but do not stop.
