PCR yielded 122 (57.5%) positive suspected cases and 90 (42.5%) negative cases, table (2). Among the positive PCR cases, 72 were positive in both smear examination and culture. It confirmed 102 (93.6%) of culture positive and 78 (88.6%) of smear- positive. Moreover, it detected 44 (35.6%) of smear-negative among which 30 samples were culture positive. Out 90 negative PCR- suspected cases, 75 were negative in both smear microscopy and culture. 7 (6.7%) were culture positive, (table 3). |
