PBMC were stimulated in vitro with influenza vaccine. mRNA and protein levels were measured by qPCR and ELISA, respectively. Fold change was calculated as a ratio to baseline (unstimulated PBMCs) whereas concentration refers only to protein levels in supernatants stimulated with influenza vaccine. IFN-α and IP-10 were barely detectable or undetectable in unstimulated cultures. Results are shown as median ± IQ; n = 6 COPD subjects and 10 healthy controls.
