| Figure 4: Pre-treatment: typical Manual Lymphatic Mapping (MLM)
assessment of a lymphedema patient. This patient initially presents a zone of
fluid stagnation (the dotted area), and two spontaneous reroutes to evacuate
her upper extremity lymphedema: 1. Toward the ipsilateral clavicle, an unsatisfactory/inefficient reroute to evacuate a whole upper extremity 2. An incomplete/inefficient reroute toward the ipsilateral inguinal (the flow does not reach the inguinal nodes area) The MLM was done by a dermographic pen during the session, but for clarity, arrows and dots have been replaced by digital lines. |
