Figure 1: Repopulation of granuloma cells from the periphery.
Granulomas were transplanted from BCG-infected tissue into uninfected CX3CR1-eGFP recipients (monocyte reporter strain). Repopulation of transplanted granulomas with recipient-derived cells (right panel, white arrows) was measured 1 and 7 days later. Depending on the cell type, up to 30% of cells are replaced in acute granulomas within 7 days.
