Title: Nanoparticle stabilized emulsions and foams for EOR and LNG spill mitigation
Zhengdong Cheng obtained his PhD from the Physics Department of Princeton University and did his postdoctoral studies from Exxonmobil and Harvard University. He is an Associate Professor at Texas A&M University. He focuses on complex fluids, particularly devotes to develop technology for enhanced oil recovery and solar energy harvesting, fabrication and characterization of discotic liquid crystal materials and applications of nano-encapsulation
Nanoparticles can be surface active to make Pickering emulsions and foams. We have recently developed surface active nanoplates. The unique behaviors of the nanoplate Pickering emulsions and foams will be discussed, with emphasis for their possible applications for enhanced oil recovery and LNG spill mitigation.
