    In a study that includes 1518 subjects, 25 to 65 years old; 81.9% were male, and mean age was 43.2 +/- 9.8 years, 29.2% (95% confidence interval [CI], 26.9-31.5) of subjects were myopes. There is currently no cure for myopia, but spectacles, contact lenses and refractive surgery can all provide good distance vision for people with myopia.

     

  • Nearsightedness

    Myopia, commonly called shortsightedness, is a condition in which light is focussed in front of the retina, resulting in blurred vision. Shortsighted people can often see reasonably clearly at short distances, but will not be able to see distant objects clearly.
