Differentiated adipocytes and myotubes were serum starved for 2h followed by treatment with insulin or berberine (Ber) and EA as indicated for 30 min and phosphorylation status of Akt and AMPK was determined by western blot analysis. Treatment with EA did not stimulate Akt phosphorylation in adipocytes (A) or muscles (B) but stimulated AMPK phosphorylation in adipocytes (C) and muscle cells (D).
