Ketone bodies are the product of HMG-CoA, which is produced from assembly of three acetyl-CoA. During type 1 diabetes, shortage of insulin production by pancreatic beta cells stimulates intracellular FAO and the concentration of acetyl-CoA, which is used for Ketone bodies production.
