Figure 6: Effect of Alginate Viscosity Grade on Dry Gel Contact Angle-Gels from three different viscosity grades of alginate was produced using electrophoretic deposition, and they were dried overnight in vacuum. The contact angles were then obtained by depositing a 0.25 μl drop of water on the dried gel surface. Un-cross-linked (white) and cross-linked (grey) gel contact angles are represented above. All gels had similar contact angle (p-values > 0.193) of 47.4 ±1.1° except for the cross-linked HV grade alginate (p-value < 0.001) that had a contact angle of 37.2 ± 6.38°.
