Male C57Bl/6, NKT KO (Jα18KO) and γδKO mice were treated with 200 ng/mouse 17-β-estradiol or 0.05 mM/kg of the ERα and ERβ agonists (PPT and DPN) s.c., or with corn oil/DMSO (vehicle) as a control and infected with 102 PFU CVB3. Mice were killed 7 days after infection and spleens were evaluated for T-regulatory cells.
