Figure 1: Frequency (%) of haplotype 1 in groups of leprosy patients,
periodontitis patients and healthy controls. Haplotype frequency was calculated based on the assumption that each group would be in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg’s equilibrium as the subjects were selected from the Japanese Wajin population of mainland Japan (Honshu). The clinical forms of leprosy and periodontitis were subdivided into lepromatous (L-lep) and tuberculoid (T-lep) leprosy, and aggressive (AgP) and chronic (CP) periodontitis, respectively. A p-value was calculated using the StatView statistical software program (Abacus Concepts, Berkeley, CA), by comparing the frequency of haplotype 1 among the groups. |
