High flow nasal cannula was used more frequently in the High Flow Therapy (HFT) centers compared to the typical center in the Vermont Oxford Network (VON) database; however, the use of high flow nasal cannula in the VON database did not necessarily meet the definition of HFT. There is a contrast between the use of nasal continuous positive airway pressure(CPAP) for the VON database and HFT centers, where HFT centers were replacing nasal CPAP with HFT. Ventilator use may also have been reduced within the HFT centers. Error bars represent 95% confidence interval for five HFT centers.
