Amos Laar has experience in planning, implementing and disseminating community-based research. Amos has been a Principal/Co-Investigator of ten successful research grants at the University of Ghana, School of Public Health, including the HIV and AIDS Interactive Training, Education and Development Center Project which developed interventions to increase uptake of HIV testing and decrease risky behaviors among students and staff of the University of Ghana. He has provided consultancy services to both local and international development agencies including the United Nations World Food Program, UNICEF, Accra Office of the New York-based Population Council, Ghana National Population Council, and a USAID-funded ProMPT Ghana Project. He was a visiting Gates Scholar at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2007. He has extensive knowledge in the use and application of the various bibliographic software, and statistical packages. He has received several awards and has published in refereed international journals. He is a member of the Ghana AIDS Commission’s Technical Working Group on MARP.
Amos Laar has demonstrated research interest in HIV, maternal, infant, and young child nutrition.
