Dr.Andrew Rome is Director at McMillan Rome Ltd. Over the last twenty years he has been involved in the design, development and evaluation of drugs policy, procedures and services provided by NHS, local authority and non-statutory agencies. In 1995 he became the first nurse in the UK to be appointed as GP Facilitator, responsible for the development and management of a shared care scheme between primary care and specialist drug services in Tayside. In 2000 he was seconded to the Scottish Executive Health Department as Policy Lead for Integrated Care at the Effective Interventions Unit. In 2005 he was a member of the Scottish Executive’s Joint Improvement Team (Action Team). Andrew has presented at the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) international conference on Reducing Drug Deaths in Lisbon. He has also been called as an expert witness in drug misuse to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. Andrew is a clinical tutor in drug misuse and alcohol brief interventions for the Royal College of General Practitioners (Scotland), a judicial member of the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland and a Council Member of the Scottish Social Services Council.
