Anita Mandal

Assistant Professor of Biology Edward Waters College , Jacksonville ,USA.

Dr. Anita Mandal has been an Assistant Professor of Biology at Edward Waters College since 2006. She received her Bachelor of Science, with Honors, in Botany from the University of North Bengal in India; her Master of Science in Botany (specialization in plant physiology and biochemistry) from the University of North Bengal in India; her Bachelor of Education from the University of North Bengal, India; and her Doctorate in Botany from Banaras Hindu University, in Varanasi, India. Her thesis is titled "On Some Aspects of Reproductive Biology and Gametophyte Morphogenesis of a Few Tropical Ferns." Previously Dr. Mandal was a Visiting Laboratory Lecturer in the Department of Biology at the University of North Florida.

Dr. Mandal has received many research grants during her career. Most recently she received the Florida Sea Grant and the Elizabeth Carter Foundation Grant. She is the co-principal investigator for the UNCFSP/NLM-HBCU ACCESS project Establishment of e-Center for Promoting Health & Wellness at Edward Waters College. She has published and/or presented more than 30 papers.

Dr. Mandal received the Uplifting Award by the Chi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. in appreciation of devoted and invaluable services for the year 2008. She was also nominated for Marquis Who's Who in America 2009 and 2010. She is a member of the American Protein Society and American Society of Physiology.
