Bahar Taneri, PhD is an associate professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Famagusta (North Cyprus). After obtaining her PhD degree from The Rockefeller University, New York (USA) in 2005 she has returned to her home country and started teaching at EMU. Her main affiliation is to the Program of Molecular Biology and Genetics, department of Biological Sciences. Bahar is one of the founding members of this program. In addition to her teaching and research, she has served as the editor-in-chief of EMU’s Research Newsletter for two years.
Since February 2011 Bahar has been an active researcher of the Institute for Public Health Genomics (IPHG), Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences at Maastricht University. As a genome biologist she has authored several publications in the field of genomics and particularly about alternative splicing and its impact on gene expression. Her current research at IPHG revolves around efficient translation of personalized genome-based findings into healthcare and medicine for prediction and prevention of common complex diseases.
