Biography

Dr. Chengjie Xiong, Professor of Biostatistics, joined the Division of Biostatistics at Washington University School of Medicine in 2001.  He received a B.S. in Mathematics from Xiangtan University (China), an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from Peking University (China), and a Ph.D. in Statistics from Kansas State University. Dr. Xiong’s research interests include novel statistical design of experiments and clinical trials, linear and nonlinear mixed models, longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis and reliability, diagnostic accuracy, advanced meta analysis, categorical data analysis, order restricted statistical inferences, and their applications in medicine, public health, biology, education, and engineering.  Dr. Xiong has been very active in interdisciplinary research and has provided statistical consulting for academia, private industries and government agencies across the country in the areas of biology, medicine, clinical trials, agriculture, marketing and education. He currently directs the Biostatistics Cores for several NIH-funded projects in aging and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) including WU Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, Healthy Aging and Senile Dementia (HASD), Antecedent Biomarkers for AD: The Adult Children Study (ACS), and Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network (DIAN). He is also serving as the biostatistician and Biostatistics Core director of the DIAN Therapeutic Trial Unit (TTU). He has received multiple awards from NIH and other agencies to develop novel statistical approaches for detecting the early and preclinical changes of AD. He is a member of the American Statistical Association and the International Biometric Society, and has served on multiple NIH study sections as well as on the editorial board for multiple international and national journals in biostatistics and medicine.

Research Interest

Novel statistical design of experiments and clinical trials, linear and nonlinear mixed models, longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis and reliability, diagnostic accuracy, advanced meta analysis, categorical data analysis, order restricted statistical inferences, and their applications in medicine, public health, biology, education, and engineering.
