Dr. Christine Bii holds a Ph.D. in Medical Mycology of Kyorin University, Tokyo, Japan. She is a Principal Research Officer CMR/KEMRI and has the following personal statement in her area of expertise:- “The area of medical mycology is a somewhat ignored field in medical research and very few expertise exist in this neglected field. Her interest is to build technical capabilities necessary for diagnosis and research in opportunistic fungal infection in the context of expanding population of HIV infected. Dr. Christine C. Bii has many peer reviewed publications and reviewed for many journals .Currently fungal infections are emerging significant pathogens in immunocompromised individuals. Her interest in opportunistic fungal infections includes; Pneumocystis pneumonia, cryptococcal meningitis, Candidiasis, mycotoxicological food safety, antifungal alternatives and antifungal resistance surveillance. Currently she coordinates the Medical Mycology post graduate training in medical Mycology at the Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (ITROMID).
Opportunistic fungal infections includes; Pneumocystis pneumonia, cryptococcal meningitis, Candidiasis, mycotoxicological food safety, antifungal alternatives and antifungal resistance surveillance.
