Chunxue Bai (1951), He got master Degree of Medicine in 1982 and Doctor's Degree in 1989. From 1997 to 1998, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Cardiovascular Research Institute, University of California, San Francisco. He is currently professor of Medicine and chief of Pulmonary Medicine, Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University. He is also the Chairman, Respiratory Rehabilitation Committee, Shanghai Rehabilitation Society, Coordinator of COPD research group, associate coordinator of lung cancer research group, Shanghai branch, Chinese Medical Association, member of geriatric medicine, Shanghai branch, Chinese Medical Association, member of international union against tuberculosis and lung diseases and honor member of Japan anti-tuberculosis association.
His special field is respiratory diseases in internal medicine and research work mainly on the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer and acute lung injury for 20 years. He set up the Zhongshan Center for the Modality Diagnosis and Treatment of Lung Tumors, and resulted in improvement of prognosis of the disease. Bai first found the effect of aquaporin on lung fluid transportation. He and his group have done a lot of work on the effect alveolar fluid clearance and continuous hemofiltration in ARDS. He published more than 100 papers in highly ranked International and Chinese journals like “Lung fluid transport in aquaporin-1 and aquaporin-4 knockout mice”and “C. Bai, et al. A new mouse model to test the efficacy of chemical chaperone in vivo. ”. He was given the honors of "Shi-Shi Ming Foundation Prize" in 1993 and "Third Prizes for the National Medicine and development of scientific and technology" respectively in 1991 and 1999. In 1991, he was honored as "outstanding Chinese doctor degree owner for the contribution of national four modernization" by the national education committee and degree committee of national government. Up to now, he has supervised nine postgraduates for doctor degree and ten for master degree.
