Biography

Dr.Dumitru D. Branisteanu (n. 1965 Iasi) graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy "Gr Popa "of Iasi in 1989. He specialized in endocrinology consummate general and supported his doctoral thesis in the immunomodulatory effects of vitamin D at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium (1997, under the guidance of prof. Dr. Roger Bouillon and prof. dr. Chantal Mathieu). It was the recipient of a postdoctoral scholarship at the Catholic University of Leuven in 2002 and 2003. He also served as Assistant Chef de Clinique Endocrinology Clinic at the University Hospital of Grenoble Michallon in 2003-2004. He is the author / co-author of publications published in biomedical journals of international circulation, ISI (Trends of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Diabetes, Bone, European Journal of Endocrinology, Transplantation, Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, Journal of Neuroimmunology, Clinical and Experimental Immunology, Hormone Research, the Journal of Biological Chemistry, etc.). He is co-author of three patents, one approved in Romania, one in the US and one in the European Community. He is co-author of editions Treaty Endocrinology - guide diagnosis and treatment published in Romania and the chapters appeared in Vitamin D - a pluripotent steroid hormones (Walter de Gruyter Press, 1994) and Vitamin D - Chemistry, Biology and Clinical Application of the steroid hormones (Riverside, University of California). He is a member of the scientific board of Acta Endocrinologica (Bucharest) and peer reviewer of the journals Acta Endocrinologica (Bucharest) and Timisoara Medical Journal . He is a member of the European Society of Endocrinology, the Romanian Society of Endocrinology and vice president of the Romanian Society of Psihoneuroendocrinologie. In 2006 is was awarded the prize for excellence Medic.ro for endocrinology. It is currently teaching at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Gr Popa "of Iasi.
