Biography
 She holds a PhD in Chemistry (Physical Chemistry) from the University of St. Paul, Brazil during the year 1991. She completed her Bachelor studies in Chemistry in 1976 at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (UFRGS) and a master's degree at the same University, Department of Metallurgical Engineering, Graduate Program in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials, Brazil where she defended Essay titled "Reactivity CO2 coals South Americans: Study of particle size and ash content". She joined the Institute of Chemistry, Department of Inorganic Chemistry of the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul as a collaborating professor in June 1977. She is currently associate professor IV in the same Department. Currently, her research work is directed to: (a) development and application of analytical methods for the extraction and analysis of priority pollutants (hydrocarbons, pesticides, organochlorine, nitrosamines) in environmental matrices, especially soil, sediment and water; (b) development and application of analytical methods for the extraction and analysis of organic compounds essential and fixed oils from plants grown in southern Brazil (hibicus tiliaceus, pariparoba, grape seed); (c) study of oil and coal using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (oil, heavy gas oil, atmospheric residue and oil shale). Her research interests reflect in her wide range of publications in various national and international journals. She is the Editorial Board Member of reputed Journals and serves as a member of various associations , apart from being an author for many books.
