He obtained his Ph.D in Agricultural Engineering from the then Technical University of Nova Scotia (now Faculty of Engineering, Dalhousie University), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1992. He obtained a B.Sc. degree from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 1982, an M.Eng degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria in 1986 both in Agricultural Engineering . Emmanuel A. Echiegu is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural and Bioresources Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. His areas of research include renewable energy applications in agriculture, biomass and bioenergy, agricultural waste management and environmental quality control in livestock and poultry structures. He is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers. He has also held many public service appointments including that of Chief Engineer of Enugu State ADP, Programme Manager, Ebonyi State ADP and Ebonyi State, Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources (a position he held three times).
