Dr. Osayemwenre Erharuyi is a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Benin. He attended the University of Benin, where he obtained the Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) and Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) in 2006 and 2007 respectively. He obtained his Master of Science (MSc.) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Benin in 2013. He is currently a PhD student in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, University of Benin. He commenced his academic career as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Benin in 2011. He was upgraded to Lecturer II in 2013. His research interest has focused on isolation and characterization of bioactive secondary metabolites with particular interest in discovering and developing natural option for the treatment of cancer and related diseases. He has authored and co-authored over twenty (20) publications in local, national and international journals with several seminars, symposia and conferences attended in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry, cancer biology and natural product chemistry. Dr. Erharuyi has received many awards/grants including the Innovator’s Of Tomorrow (IOT) 2010 award under the Science and Technology Education Post Basic (STEP-B) Programme of the Federal Ministry of Education, Phytochemical Society of Europe (PSE) travel grant to attend the International symposium on cancer prevention and Therapy/Young Scientific Meeting in University of Naples Federico II, Naples, Italy in 2013, TWAS-ICCBS Postgraduate Fellowship Award for a research in the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences, University of Karachi, Karachi, Pakistan in 2014. He was visiting scientist to the Institute of Biomedical Research and to the Institute of Chemistry both in the University Rostock, Germany in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
