Biography

 Fawad Tanvir, MD, is a board-certified physician that specializes in infectious disease. He was born and raised in Pakistan. He attended Punjab Medical College University of the Punjab. After graduating from medical school he came to the United States and did Internal Medicine residency at St. Barnabas Hospital, Weill Medical College of Cornell University, Bronx, N.Y.

During internal medicine residency he received Resident of the Year 2002-2003 award. Dr. Tanvir served as a chief resident for another year and received The Rev. Washington Rodman Award for excellence in teaching (2004). After completing his residency training he moved to Arizona and worked in medically underserved areas for eight years. During that period of time he worked as board-certified general internist and a hospitalist and served on various hospital committees to enhance patient care.

In 2011 Dr. Tanvir joined the University of Utah as an Infectious disease fellow. He graduated from the fellowship program in 2013. Dr. Tanvir is well trained in the treatment of infectious diseases such as post-operative infections, joint and bone infections, HIV infection, infections in solid organ transplant recipients, infections in bone marrow transplant recipients, tuberculosis and non-tuberculosis infections and sexually transmitted diseases. His research work has been in the field of HIV infection.

Besides treatment and management of infectious diseases Dr. Tanvir is very interested in medical ethics and quality improvement. Dr. Tanvir is a member of Infectious Disease Society of America.
