He has an extensive network of partnerships with Asian research agencies and commercial companies, which facilitates evaluation and upgrading of the aqua-feeds as demanded by the target markets. Ravi’s continuous contacts with both domestic and international aquaculture/seafood industries, complements his industry related consultation and teaching activities.Ravi’s main research areas include a) investigating various feed-additives in fish-diets for improved immunocompetence and sustainability; b) nutrient recycling in integrated aquaculture systems and c) physiological adaptations of aquatic species when reared in inland saline waters. All these research areas are aimed at improving the sustainability of aquaculture industry.Currently Ravi is focussing on the use of biotechnological innovations to improve the productivity of aquaculture through sustainable and environmentally friendly means, which also involves the use of pre and probiotics as an alternative to antibiotics in the aquaculture industry.Ravi’s research has also helped to frame the issues around Inland Saline Water Aquaculture, Larval Nutrition, and Production Biology of various aquatic species and use of immunostimulants to improve immunocompetence of aquatic species. His has excellent experience in working with multinational companies, dealing in aquaculture and seafood processing. His role in these companies has ranged from technical advisor to business development. Research also relates to post-harvest handling that includes processing and quality assurance of seafood.
