Dr. Gathe graduated from Baylor College of Medicine with honors in 1981 and was voted into the AA honor society. He completed his internship and residency at Baylor College of Medicine. After which he received the Henri J. Kaiser Merit Scholar Award for outstanding resident over the three years and was chosen as a chief resident at St. Lukes Episcopal Hospital. He completed his Infectious Diseases training at Baylor College of Medicine-The Methodist Hospital. Subsequent highlights have included:
