Biography

Gilberto Castaeda-Hernndez, Ph.D. Gilberto Castaeda-Hernndez is Professor and Chairman at the Seccin de Farmacologa del Centro de Investigacin y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politcnico Nacional in Mxico City. Heobtained his B.Sc. in Biology at the Universidad Autnoma Metropolitana in Mexico City in 1979 and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology at the Universit Catholique de Louvain in Belgium in 1984. He was a visiting scientist at the Universit de Montral in 1992-1993 and at the Universidad Nacional Autnoma de Mxico in 1996. He was president of theWestern Pharmacology Society (constituted by pharmacologists from the U.S.A, Canada and Mexico) in 1997-1998, and of the Asociacin Mexicana de Farmacologa in 1999-2000. He has written more than 100 scientific articles in English and Spanish and is frequently invited to give lectures in Spanish, English or French. Thus,he has first hand knowledge of the challenges of translation. Having traveled through several countries, and thus been exposed to different languages, he has developed a major interest on the complexities of the translation of geographical terms.
