Dr. Guy Daculsi completed his Ph.D degree in Biological Sciences, University of Nantes in 1979. Dr. Guy Daculsi is Research Director INSERM exceptional class (DRE) National Institute Medical Research at the University of Nantes, and Director SC3M Electron Microscopic, Micro Imaging and Micro Characterization Center, University of Nantes. He is a Fellow Biomaterials Science and Engineering (FBSE). He is associated with the International Society of Ceramics in Medicine as a president (2007) and General Secretary since 2009. He is also the board member of the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering Committee since June 2012. In 1978, he was the Award Winner INAVA International Group for Scientific Research in Dentistry and Stomatology (GIRSO), ISCM Racquel LeGeros Award Bioceramics 25 in 2013, and received in 2014 the George Winter Award from the European Society for Biomaterials. He is also Chief Editor of Bioceramics Development and Application. Dr. Guy Daculsi is a biologist and crystallographist, specialized in biological apatite and calcium phosphate bioceramics. His main interest is calcium phosphate based biomaterials and calcified tissue. He is also clinical research scientific coordinator in orthopedics, maxillofacial surgery, and ENT. More than 500 publications, 398 scientific communications including 84 invited conferences, 11 patents including 9 internationals have been being resulted by Dr. Guy Daculsi. His international contributions to the field of bioceramics and bone substitutes have been recognized by IUSBSE during the 8th World Biomaterials Congress on Biomaterials: A Pioneer in Bioceramics for Bone Regeneration.
Alternative materials calcified tissues, especially calcium phosphate synthesis, new biomaterials and new surgical technologies, gene therapy etc.
