Her primary appointment is the department of Pediatrics with a cross appointment to Cardiology Critical Care Medicine. She would describe herself as a clinician scholar and researcher. Her job description is clinical (45%), research (25%), administration (20%) and education (10%). In clinical practice she has developed innovative therapies for children with pulmonary hypertension, and the first childhood pulmonary hypertension clinic in North America. Her research interests including studying the bidirectional Glenn and effect of CO2, endothelial function after cardiopulmonary bypass, sildenafil and inhaled Nitrous Oxide research, acoustic transformation of P2 and translational research with the departments of mathematics and biomedical engineering. In education, I trained the first nurse practitioner in pediatric pulmonary hypertension in Canada. Five of my former fellows are now leaders in their fields of congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension, task force leader in pediatric pulmonary hypertension for the Global Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute. In administration I was the first director of pediatric Cardiac intensive care program in Toronto Sick Kids, UC San Francisco Children’s, and Stollery Children’s Hospital.
I would be able to provide mentorship for those interested in research (including finding time for research with a busy clinical commitment, and family), and clinical aspects of family centered care, cardiac critical care, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiology.
