Jian-Hua Mao
Biography
Jian-Hua Mao is a Geneticist Career Staff Scientist in Life Sciences Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA. Dr Mao received his Ph.D. at the Department of Radiation Oncology, University of Glasgow, United Kingdom, completed his post-doctoral training at Department of Medical Oncology, the University of Glasgow. Dr Mao has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications.
His research interests include, (1) identifing the combinations of genes and their functional polymorphisms that affect the susceptibility to tumor development; (2) discovering genetic alterations in tumors using recently developed high throughput technologies such as comparative genomic hybridization microarray, (3) SNP microarray, gene expression microarray, and next generation sequencing; (4) studying the functional and mechanistic role of new discovered genes in tumor development using genetic engineering mice; and (5) identifing biomarkers for early diagnosis, prognosis and response sensitivity to therapies.
