Dr. Joanna Schaenman is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA where she focuses on patient care as well as translational research in the solid organ transplant patient population. She completed the M.D./Ph.D. program at the University of Virginia where she studied molecular parasitology. Following this she pursued residency and fellowship training in Infectious Diseases, and he also earned a Master’s degree in Epidemiology at Stanford, where Dr. Joanna became interested in viral and fungal infections in transplant recipients. Currently she is collaborating with Dr. Elaine Reed in an investigation into the immune control of viral infections, with an emphasis in the kidney transplant population.
