She is awarded PhD in Georgia State University, Atlanta.  Kathy P. Parker, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N., an adult nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist in adult health, and a nationally recognized sleep disorders researcher. Parker is currently a professor of Nursing in the Department of Family and Community Nursing at Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing in Atlanta. Parker was appointed dean of the School of Nursing in August 2008, after more than 30 years as a distinguished clinician, professor and scientist at Emory University’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing in Atlanta.
