Giovanni Paganelli is working as Director of the Division of Nuclear Medicine of the European Institute of Oncology in Milan, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Bologna, later specializing in Geriatrics and Nuclear Medicine. Between 1987 and 1988 he worked at the Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Postgraduate Medical School in London, perfecting a new technique based on the avidin-biotin, and using monoclonal antibodies for imaging and therapy in oncology. His interest is focused mainly on applications "in vivo" of the avidin-biotin in the diagnosis and therapy of solid tumors. It 'was the first to use the 90Y-biotin and antibodies in cancer therapy of gliomas. Linfoscintigrafica recently he optimized a technique for mapping the sentinel lymph node in breast carcinomas. In 1998 he won the "Marie Curie Award" established by the European Association of Nuclear Medicine.
