Lluís Soler was born in Terrassa, Catalonia, in 1979. He received his Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the Autonomous university of Barcelona (UAB), Catalonia, Spain, in 2010. He studied and developed new processes for hydrogen generation from water mediated by aluminum oxidation in alkaline media. From 2010 to 2012, he was a Senior Researcher with the UAB in the testing of a new hydrogen generation prototype. In June 2012, he joined the Institute for Integrative Nanoscience, Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research, Dresden, Germany, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. In September 2013, he joined the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, Stuttgart, Germany, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. He is currently at the Institute of Energy Technologies, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. His research interests include catalysis, self-propelled micro- and nanomotors, fabrication of nanomembranes, hydrogen generation processes, hydrogen storage, and fuel cells.
