Biography

Marcos Perez-Losada research focuses mainly on evolutionary questions related to invertebrate biodiversity, dynamics of human infectious diseases and host-microbe interactions. He also interested in comparing methods of phylogenetic and population genetic analysis and data types to study evolutionary processes at both the species and population levels. Jis interest in invertebrate biodiversity centers around mollusks, crustaceans and earthworms, and encompasses the study of their taxonomic and morphological diversity, systematics, phylogeography and conservation. His research on human infectious diseases focuses on gonorrhea and HIV and explores the evolutionary and epidemiological factors driving the dynamics of human infectious diseases (phylodynamics). Recently, He have become interested in studying the evolutionary and ecological interactions between earthworms and their associated microbial fauna and the impact worms have on the structure and function of soil microbes
