Associate Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering at McMaster University, Co-Director, McMaster School of Biomedical Engineering, Director of Imaging Physics and Engineering,

Biography

Michael D. Noseworthy is currently the co-director of the School of Biomedical Engineering (msbe.mcmaster.ca). Research revolves around assessment of normal and diseased tissue microstructure and the resultant modulation of tissue metabolism using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and in vivo nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Diseases of interest include cancer, musculoskeletal disorders and traumatic brain injury (TBI).

Research Interest

Musculoskeletal disorders, traumatic brain injury (TBI),assessment of normal and diseased tissue microstructure and the ensuing modulation of tissue metabolism, using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and in vivo nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.  My work involves developing new MRI hardware and imaging pulse sequences, and software development for MR signal and image processing.  In addition my research group works to study physiological problems and diseases using advanced medical imaging techniques.
