Biography

Miriam H Beauchamp is Assistant Professor in Department of Psychology at University of Montreal and Associate Professor in Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill. Her research interest focuses on  to better understand child development and consequences of brain damage in infants with various techniques (MRI, fMRI, PET, DTI, eye tracking, neuropsychological assessment, longitudinal studies), especially in populations following: healthy populations, head trauma, prematurity, behavior disorders, child psychiatric disorders, metabolic / genetic diseases, other neuropsychological disorders, etc.

Research Interest

My research interest is to better understand child development and consequences of brain damage in infants with various techniques (MRI, fMRI, PET, DTI, eye tracking, neuropsychological assessment, longitudinal studies), especially in populations following: healthy populations, head trauma, prematurity, behavior disorders, child psychiatric disorders, metabolic / genetic diseases, other neuropsychological disorders, etc.

Several methodological and technological approaches are taken under four main lines of investigation:
Normal development of the child studies (healthy population) and predictors of brain maturation and cognitive, Investigation of the effects of perinatal brain injury (eg.. Premature birth) and postnatal (eg.. Head trauma) on cognition, social competence, quality of life and brain development,Design and validation of new cognitive tasks and social skills (eg.. Moral reasoning, theory of mind, executive functions),Development of intervention programs for parents and children / adolescents with head injury
