Mkaya Mwamburi, MD, PhD, MA (Econ) is the director of the Tufts Center for Global Public Health and an Associate Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine here at Tufts University School of Medicine.  He earned his medical degree at the University of Nairobi and relocated and practiced to South Africa. He earned his PhD in Health Outcomes Research and Masters in Economics from Tufts University.

His primary research focus over the past 12 years has been in HIV in Kenya, South Africa, India, Pakistan, and the United States.  Dr. Mwamburi has extensive clinical trial and research experience in urban and rural settings in sub-Saharan Africa.
