Biography
Dr. Noritaka Oyama has received his M.D. degree from Fukushima Medical University in 1994. He has worked on the novel research field for epigenetic/genetic interrelationship for the pathogenesis of psoriasis under the supervision of Prof. Homma Yoshimi, Dept. of Biomolecular Science, Fukushima Medical University, and successfully obtained a US patent. Based on this honor, he has received his Ph.D. degree from Fukushima Medical University in 1998. He has then worked as an assistant professor in the Dept. of Dermatology, Fukushima Medical University supervised by Prof. Fumio Kaneko, and moved to join the oversea collaboration as a postdoctoral researcher in the Immunopathology Department (Prof. Martin M Black), Dept. of Immunobiology (Prof. Adrian Hayday), and Genetic Skin Disease Group (Prof. John A McGrath), King’s College, London, UK from 2001 to 2003. After coming back to Japan, he has again worked in Fukushima Medical University from 2003 to 2011 as a lecturer, and kept his research interests on autoimmune blistering diseases and genodermatoses, both of which target the same skin structural antigen(s), from the view point of clinician-scientists. He has received several awards, including the best research award in the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) 2003 and the research encouragement prize in the British Society for Investigative Dermatology (BSID) 2003. He is currently working as a chief of the Dermatology and Dermato-Allergology, Matsuda General Hospital, Fukui, Japan.
