Dr. Pradeep K. Chatterjee received his PhD in Chemistry from Columbia University in 1981, where he developed a novel photochemical method to generate psoralen-DNA monoadducts with high efficiency. His post-doctoral research explored the assembly of animal viruses such as VSV at MIT Biology, and later explored regulation of transcription of adenovirus at Princeton University. He then worked at Dupont-Merck exploring the mechanisms of cell-killing using genetic approaches. He is currently an Associate Professor of Chemistry and member of the Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute at North Carolina Central University, Durham, NC, working in Genomics-Molecular Genetics. His research has included both developing novel technology, such as enhancer-trapping using BACs, and exploring the mechanism of regulation of transcription using BAC-transgenesis in zebrafish. Based on this research and fellowship training he has received several awards and honors, such as: Hind Ratan Award, 2014, from the NRI welfare society of Govt. of India. He is on the Editorial Board of Journal of BioTechnology and BioEngineering, and serves as an expert Reviewer for journals such as J. Molecular Biology, Nucleic Acids Research, BMC-Genomics, International Journal of Biological Sciences, BioTechniques, African Journal of Microbiology Research. He has authored several book chapters and served as editor of a book.
