Biography
Biography of Qiang Chen
Born in 1971, Qiang Chen is currently a professor at School of Economics, Shandong University,
and executive vice director of Taiyue Center for Research & Education in Economics (TREE). He
received B.A. and M.A. in economics from Peking University in 1992 and 1995 respectively, and
joined its faculty thereafter. In 2007, he received M.S. in mathematics and Ph. D. in economics
from Northern Illinois University.
Professor Qiang Chen's researches focus on development, econometrics, economic history and
institutions. He has published in international journals such as Oxford Economic Papers,
Economica, Journal of Comparative Economics. He is a member of American Economic
Association, and Royal Economic Society. His graduate textbook Advanced Econometrics with
Stata (2nd edition, Higher Education Press, 2014, in Chinese) has become a bestselling textbook
in China.
